The context of Rinpa

Rinpa is a Japanese art movement that began in the early 17th century and is known for its vibrant colors, bold compositions, and elegant decorativeness. Founded by Hon'ami Koetsu and Tawaraya Sotatsu, it was later developed by Ogata Korin, who gave it the name "Rinpa". Rinpa artists stylized gold and silver backgrounds and natural motifs such as flowers and waves to create striking, timeless works.
