About WCJ
WORLD CUT JAM is a haircutting event held by ミズタニシザーズ.
Barbers from Japan and abroad take the stage, and the audience can watch their hands at work from right up close.

Event participants from many regions
It operates within a framework called “Haircut Love and Peace” (ヘアカットラヴ and ピース), and declares its wish for a peaceful world where people can get a haircut with peace of mind.
At CUT JAM as well, money raised through sales of charity scissors goes to hair donation organizations and to refugee support.
At this Hiroshima event, entry fees and proceeds from goods sold at the venue came to ¥205,306, all of which went to refugee support through Japan for UNHCR.

The collaboration cape used in the cutting demonstration: a black one-stroke drawing on an orange ground

Deer and maple leaves in one-stroke drawing, with the card inscription “みずたに”. On either side are portraits finished in live painting on the day
Drawn in one stroke
Bob, who created the artwork, is an artist based in Hiroshima. From the first line to the last, the pen never once leaves the paper. The method, which Bob calls “1chain drawing” (one-stroke drawing), makes a picture out of that single line alone.
This cape, too, is drawn with that single line.
The motif is deer and maple leaves. Both are icons of Hiroshima. Bob drew them as an original piece, styled after a hanafuda card.
The tanzaku ribbon reads “みずたに” and “good in the hand” (てによろし).
ミズタニシザーズ makes the ease of use of its scissors its brand identity. That philosophy was placed on the tanzaku.
For those who want to know the brand philosophy of ミズタニシザーズ more deeply, we recommend the following book.

NK Supply also had the pleasure of working with Bob at HIROSHIMA BARBER’S FES in Hiroshima in May 2024.
At the WORLD BARBER CLASSIC Chugoku-Shikoku preliminary, the capes were made as a three-way collaboration that brought in local barbershops. Here is our record of that day.

On the day, Bob also took part with live painting

NK Supply and local artists
Over the years, we have collaborated with many artists to make original capes.
Not only for events: the most ideal arrangement of all is “shop × artist × NK Supply”.
Every shop has more than a few customers who are well versed in art and creative work, or who take a keen interest in it.
Try talking with those creators about your shop's branding.
Drawing on their perspective, you can evolve your shop into something even more wonderful.
We hope that someday this kind of workflow will lead to a standard barbershop culture.
With that hope, NK Supply will keep putting this into practice in all kinds of forms, from events in many places to originals for individual shops.
For as long as our stamina lasts.
And we hope that these steady efforts will be discovered by someone 100 years from now.
We dream of the day when it becomes known that barber culture in Japan was budding earlier than anywhere else in the world.
A thousand paper cranes, 2 hours every morning for 14 days

The two from SCHOREM, with the thousand paper cranes brought to the venue

With the thousand paper cranes between them

Folded over 14 days, for 2 hours every morning
We are told these thousand paper cranes were actually carried in.
Before and after the event, Bertus wrote about Hiroshima on his own account.
June 16, from Peace Memorial Park. The story of Sadako Sasaki and the thousand paper cranes, which he read at 9 or 10, was the first push that made him an anti-war, rebellious punk, he says. When the show in Hiroshima was confirmed, he decided to deliver a thousand cranes he had folded himself. Over 14 days, 2 hours every morning, about 75 cranes a day
